Pop-Culture Presidential Election

Conor Oberst supports Barak Obama? (Click). Wow, now he's definitely my favorite!!

Sarcasm aside, I wonder what would happen if the presidential race was decided on celebrity endorsements alone? Forget policies, America really wants to know who your famous mates are, and what kinda music you listen to.

Lets vote, shall we?

Here are some of the major runners, and the celebs fighting in their corner:

Barack Obama (Democrat):

Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), Jeff Tweedy (Wilco), Oprah Winfrey, Will Smith, Jennifer Aniston, George Clooney, Tyra Banks, Jamie Foxx, Susan Sarandon, Halle Berry, Scarlett Johanson, Zack Braff, Jessica Biel, Ryan Reynolds, Matt Damon, Gene Wilder.

Hillary Clinton (Democrat):

Martha Stuart, Tom Hanks, Tony Bennett, Barbara Streisand, Magic Johnson, Steven Spielberg, Rob Reiner, John Grisham, Carly Simon, Ted Danson, Quincy Jones, Carole King, Magic Johnson, Jenna Jameson, Jerry Springer.

John Edwards (Democrat):

Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, Kevin Bacon, Tim Robbins, John Mellencamp, Madeleine Stowe, Lance Armstrong.

Mike Huckabee (Republican):

Chuck Norris, Ric Flair, Ted Nugent.

Rudy Giuliani (Republican):

Bo Derek, Robert Duvall, Kelsey Grammer, Cheryl Ladd, Dennis Miller, Adam Sandler, Tom Selleck, Ron Silver, David Zucker.

Hillary & Obama are both looking strong with Obama taking an early lead with the hip vote by wrangling Jeff Tweedy, Conor Oberst & Zack Braff; but then Clinton comes straight back in there with the winning pair of porn star Jenna Jameson & movie god Steven Spielberg.

Poor John Edwards has to make do with Kevin Bacon, but at least has cyclist/cancer surviver Lance Armstrong to pick up the slack.

Giuliani looks strong with the solid mustached support of Tom Selleck, but the dark horse is definitely Mike Huckabee with his possible match-winner in Chuck Norris.

It's gonna be a tough race, with all to play for.

Let the voting begin...

***UPDATE***

Arcade Fire's Win Butler has leapt into the race in support of, you guessed it, Barack Obama. Will this late addition have any effect on the the polls? Probably not so much, as Obama seems to be running away with it anyway...

Reasons Why Kanye West is a Tool.

I've already gotten some stick for being fixated on how much of an imbecile kanye west is, but i don't think it can be pointed out enough- the man is an absolute joke.

and here's why:

apart from the obvious- that he's a terrible 'musician', and makes a living by putting samples of good songs under his own inane drivel; several things have come to my attention in the past few days that have prompted me to write this.

firstly, a video posted by Unarocks featuring kanye freaking out backstage at the vma's because britney opened the show instead of him.
watch it here.

then this proof that the moron is a serial offender in the court of uber-diva-ness. he crashed the stage at the european vma's last year during justice & simian's acceptance speech for best video. why? to bitch that HE should have got the award cause his video "cost a million dollars" and "had pamela anderson and shit".

"if i don't win, the award show loses credibility"

sigh

THEN, the final straw- look, and weep, at what kanye has had commissioned to have painted on his celing.

"As if he has just appeared before God, Kanye West is being celebrated by a chorus of rejoicing angels."

oh the humanity...
