Jerry Fuchs RIP


Jerry Fuchs, drummer with bands such as Maserati, The Juan McClean and egoeccentric favourites !!! (chk chk chk) has died tragically in New York. Fuchs fell to his death while attempting to escape a stalled elevator early on Sunday morning.

After the !!! gig in Whelans on wednesday night the good folk from U:mack are throwing a party upstairs in whelans.DJing at the party will be Tyler Pope of !!! and formerly of LCD sound system, who rocked it at the last !!! after show in kennedys. Also playing are Skinny Wolves, and the u:mack DJ's. Should be the perfect thing after sweating to !!!.

Happy Weekend!

I shall spend tomorrow night dancing like a maniac at the lads Halloween party, and thus will probably not be blogging much tomorrow or Sunday. I am hoping to go to some flicks in the Horrorthon on Monday though. You should too, horror movies rock. If I make it, I'll be checking out 'Close Encounters Of The Third Kind' (never seen it) & 'Planet Terror' (hope it's better than Death Proof...).

I hope all your weekend's are as funtacular.

!!! Vocalist/ Percussionist Quits




From NME:

"!!!'s vocalist and percussionist John Pugh has left the band.

Pugh has been absent from the group during their summer appearances.

He told 'Alternative Press' magazine that he left the band to pursue creating manic background music for ensuing debauchery" with his band Free Blood."


Apparently the 'manic background music' in question involves taking old records and cutting and scratching them with razor blades and scissors to create textures on the vinyl, which is then played through old school gramophones.

All right then....

***Edit: Informative Anonymous Person has corrected my last observation about cutting up vinyl. Turns out I was mixing up 'Free Blood' with another project of Pugh's that's featured in this nifty little documentary 'Bump, Tick, Scratch'.

Here's a taste of Free Blood. Sounds pretty cool:
