More Glastonbury Headliners

This years Glastonbury is shaping up to be one of the best in the festival's history.

Oh wait, sorry, I was thinking of something else there..

This years Glastonbury is shaping up to be pretty shit. With Jay-Z already confirmed as one headliner, two more of Michael Eavis' trump cards were announced today to barely audible grumbles of malcontent. The Verve & Kings Of Leon will headline the other stages, joining the already announced lineup of Neil Diamond, British Sea Power & Leonard Cohen.

What happened to all the promising rumors of Radiohead, or even Led Zeppelin? "When I think of Led Zeppelin, my mind immediately races to that delightful Ashcroft boy", Michael Eavis may have said if he was a figment of my imagination.

Sigh. At least the Kings Of Leon are pretty good..

I keep telling you Rob, Glastonbury is not about the line-up ESPECIALLY not the headliners on the Pyramid stage. The Other Stage always has the best top bands and the smaller ones like the John Peel and others have all the underground bands.

Last year I looked at the schedule for the weekend and said "I have no intention of going anywhere near the main stage for anybody except maybe for the Who" who were on last. The irony lay in the fact that substance abuse and lethargy resulted in me not being able to move from there despite my best efforts. The Kaiser Chiefs are slightly less shit live just so you know.

Rob, you really need to go to a few few music festivals before bitching about headliners.

Glasto is not about the big stages, it never has been and lets hope it never fucking will be. Anyone who has been to glasto will tell you first and foremost Glastonbury is a festival of performing arts not just music.

I'm not criticizing Glasto, it may still be as amazing as ever.

It doesn't make the Verve, Jay-Z, Neil Daimon, Leonard Cohen etc any less meh though.

No matter how great the festival may be, I still like to see good bands, and the ones mentioned above don't inspire me at all.

Although, as Bob says, I'm sure the full lineup will be far better than this initial announcement suggests.
