Richard "Donnie Darko" Kelly's follow up to his cult classic. On the shelf for a year and a half following a disastrous Cannes opening and now on DVD.
Pro's:
- The presence of the afore-mentioned Kelly guarantee's that this will be, at the very least, interesting.
- The Rock, Stifler, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, JT. A cast so dodgy that it can only be brilliant.
- An out of the blue song and dance routine to The Killers "All these things that I've done" and a whole portion of the plot based around the lyrics to "Three Days" by Jane's Addiction.
- Some awesome hallucinatory moments.
- Deranged and trippy in that awesome way that will suck you in if you're into it.
Con's:
- Deranged and trippy in that way that will make you turn it off a quarter of the way through its 2 and a half hour run time and scream "PRETENTIOUS WANK" at the screen. (For the record I did neither of these things).
- The Rock, Stifler, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, JT. A cast so dodgy that it can only be...dodgy.
- A plot so convuluted and character filled that it sometimes collapses under the weight of its own ambitions (or pretensions).
- If you're the kind of person that...um...if this kind of thing is your cup of...um...ah fuck it.
