88BoaDrum

Legendary Japanese iconoclast BOREDOMS, a visionary band who have spent over twenty years pushing itself toward new frontiers last year staged a concert on the 7/7/07 - a 77 minute long set featuring 77 drummers called 77BoaDrum. The idea was simple and irresistible: Eye (as he is known) was joined by the other three Boredoms, all three playing drums, along with 74 more drummers from the New York musical underground and beyond (including members of Gang Gang Dance, No-Neck Blues Band, Sunburned Hand Of The Man, Excepter, Sightings, Oneida, and more), all arranged in a giant spiral. Well they're going to be doing it again this year but with 88 drummers, and 88 minutes long on the 08/08/08.

The event will happen in both L.A. and NYC, The Los Angeles event will start at 8:08 PM PST at La Brea Tar Pits, and will feature 88 drummers selected by both the Boredoms and 88BoaDrum artistic director Hisham Bharoocha of Soft Circle. The New York event, conducted on behalf of the Boredoms by Brooklyn's own Gang Gang Dance, goes down at 8:08 PM EST at the Williamsburg waterfront.
