The Fast and The Bi Curious
COMING THIS SUMMER
Obama Goes Ghetto
Some clever person has sampled the audiobook version of Barack Obama's memoir, 'Dreams From My Father', and used quotes for nefarious (well, techno) means. Remute, a producer from Hamburg, has twigged that 'beat + American President saying "motherfucker" = Internet glory'.
Here's the result:
No Interest In The Superbowl?
As I find myself inexplicably sucked in to the Superbowl tonight, I wondered how rival TV networks have attempted to compete with the ratings behemoth that is the biggest day in American sports. As it turns out, they've gone to some lengths.
Take, for example, The Puppy Bowl, a football game played by, yes, puppies:
'Players' are penalised for relieving themselves on the field of play, local dogs watch the action from TV screens outside (we cut to see their reaction shots) and the half time show is performed by cats.
Avoiding the cute and schmaltzy angle completely, the annual Lingerie Bowl, is a football game played by, well, women in Lingerie:
So there we have it. Desperation inspires creativity... or at least thinking outside the box... slightly.
Random Video Of The Day
Girl has never seen Star Wars, claims she knows what happens anyway, hilarity ensues:
Star Wars: Retold (by someone who hasn't seen it) from Joe Nicolosi on Vimeo.
Religilous
Trailer for Bill Maher's seemingly quite unrestrained documentary on religion. I have a feeling I'm going to be finding this amoosing. April 2009, folks.
Fingers Crossed...
It's D-Day for America, and pretty much the rest of the world. Will we be left at the mercy of buffoons with terrifying foreign policies for another four years? Lets hope not.

Happy Halloween, Ms. Palin
Ahh, Hollywood... where even the locals are nuts:
Big up to ass-clown McCremdogg for the tip.
Comedy For Charity
My brother Mark is quite the charitable soul, and will soon be heading off to Africa with Niall Mellon's Township Trust project. For those who may not know, this is an awesome charity which basically recruits a bunch of Irish folk to fly to South Africa and build a load of houses in impoverished communities.
The idea is to do annual 'building blitzes'- for example, last year they built an astonishing 203 houses in a single week. Obviously houses don't come for free- and neither do flights to Africa- so a lot of fundraising has to go on to support the project. Which is where you come in...
Mark & Co. have organised a comedy extravaganza for tonight (Wednesday) in Dublin's Laughter Lounge, with four comedians, a late bar and DJs. Tickets are 25 euro a head, and all proceeds go towards this year's Building Blitz. Things kick off at 8, but as is the way with comedy, it goes nicely with booze- so get there between 7 & 7.30 for a free cocktail. Woo hoo!

Play the VMA's? Sure, we'd love to!
What would we like on our rider?
Booze.
And maybe some..... ah no, just the booze will be fine.
We'll be grand.

David O'Doherty Nominated For If.Comedy Award
The DOD has been nominated for the prestigious If.Comedy Award (formerly known as the Perrier Award) at the Edinburgh Comedy festival.
It's the second time he's been nominated for the award, and hopefully this time he'll come out victorious. Congrats and good luck!
Here's a taste of the DOD's low energy musical whimsy in the form of a history lesson:
Russell Crowe to Play Bill Hicks?
According to this interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Russel Crowe is said to be considering taking the lead role in a Bill Hicks Biopic. The film is currently being penned by kiwi Mark Staufer, a former UK Universal television executive who Crowe is developing several projects with.
Hmmm...
Lets ignore for a minute the fact that a Bill Hicks biopic is a terrible idea (do you think HE'd approve?), I have some serious reservations about Crowe in the lead role. Granted- he can act, but I worry that his much reported delusions of grandeur won't lend themselves favorably to the role of the self-deprecating anti-christ that was Hicks. The obvious worry is that in true Hollywood fashion the whole thing will be more 'tortured cancer sufferer' than 'dirty goat boy', in which case it's an automatic failure in my eyes. We'll just have to wait and hope.
Below clip: Academy award winner Russell Crowe gives a heart-wrenching performance as a terminal cancer patient struggling with his own mortality, who goes on a journey of discovery to find out about the beauty of life, and the healing power of love.
"Show me your genitals": Video of the day
1) This video is retarded.
2) This video is funny
Thats all you need to know.
More videos for Jon LaJoie in the read more. 2girls1cup is destined to become a classic romantic song and Everyday Normal Guy is pretty funny but Everyday Normal Guy 2 is funnier. I could post MP3's but he's giving them away on his website so there's not really much point. Get it in.

Life Advice From Canadian Musicians

They're world leaders in esoteric indie pop-rock, so surely those Canucks have a thing or two to say about dealing with life's problems. The Believer magazine reckons so, and has roped in some of em to act as agony aunts for this month's issue. Contributions from Final Fantasy's Owen Pallett and Tegan & Sara below...
Dear Sedaratives,
Are babies worth the hassle of pregnancy?
An Unwilling Mother,
Jacksonville, Fla.
Dear Unwilling Mother,
This is an excellent question. I don’t have any children, nor am I a woman, so I went to an expert: my mother. She said, “No. The nine months of pregnancy are just the beginning. Once the baby is born, you will lose your identity. Your baby’s birth will also be your death. Not literally, of course, but the death of the vibrant, exciting woman that you’ve spent your whole life working on. You will lose contact with friends. Your writing will suffer. And the so-called ‘bliss of parenthood’ is a sham too. You’ll find yourself talking less about your beautiful new infant and more about the weight you’ve gained.”
Thanks, Mom! I love you too.

Dear Sedaratives,
My little brother said we should smoke some weed together, but I don’t want him taking pictures and blackmailing me with them. Should I address this to him directly or is there a way I can get around it without bringing it up at all?
Warmly,
Dale Shipley
Naples, Fla.
Dear Dale,
It’s a trap. My older sister publicly resolved to discontinue her addiction to nicotine at midnight on January 1, 2007. She declared her abstinence from the habit and promised, in a binding agreement with a friend, to pay one thousand dollars to anyone who caught her inhaling. At 3:23 a.m. on January 1st, 2007, my sister arrived home from the bar, under the influence of alcohol, and disturbed my slumber by blasting songs from her electro-pop side project while dancing around the inflatable mattress I was sleeping on in her living room. She then proceeded to smoke her face off while mocking my good behavior. I quickly turned on my video camera and captured her in the act. I then used the incriminating tape to receive my thousand-dollar reward. I also called her “watpagin” for three months following a predictive text mishap from the same evening. Don’t ever trust a sibling not to sell you out for laughs or money.
Cheers,

Der Cowan
This 'amusing subtitles on Hitler's Downfall rant' thing is getting a bit crazy (I already saw on on the Cristiano Ronaldo transfer saga today), but this one via UnaRocks featuring an enraged Brian Cowan just has to be reposted.
Tee hee.
