So I've been listening to the new Weezer album now for a while and well...... its ok (all in all i would give it 5 out of 10). Im slowly coming to the realization to the fact that i don't think Weezer will ever reach the giddy heights of Pinkerton. I think my main problem with the album is that Weezer/rivers has lost some of there/his rawness and all the albums since Pinkerton (one of my favorite albums of all time and probably the best break up album of all time) have felt cold to me.

But this it not the point of this post , the point is i was in a friends house and flicking through is itunes came across some Ozma, and the song in question "Battlescars" and i feel this song could fit seemly into the tracklisting for the blue album , it has all the trademark Wezzer hooks (thats not to say i don't think Omza are a good band in their own right just on some of their songs its very hard to shake the Weezer comparisons). listen and see what i mean

This weekend curer in the form of a mixtape comes from Marvins Revolt's Klaus. Marvins Revolt is a three-piece out of Copenhagen, Denmark (who mutate into a four-piece live) making angular and catchy tunes. Touched by sounds from the present and the past, but forging their own path, regardless of scenes or trends. The songs appear as intense, challenging and melodic structures, with disregard for songwriting rules.

So heres a nice slice of indie dance punk( is that even a genre) in the form of Moving Units. The band was formed in 2001 by Chris Hathwell, Blake Miller, and Johan Boegli, when Hathwell’s previous band, Festival of Dead Deer, broke up. They released their debut EP, Moving Units, on Three One G in early 2002.

Todays MP3 comes from Mirror, Mirror are a four piece math/post-rock band from Tokyo, Japan formed in April 2003 under the name “Journal Spy Effort” as a three piece band. They release one EP in 2004 (and a self produced-demo) under this name before deciding to change their name in November 2006 to Mirror. The 10th of July 2007 saw the release of their first full-length album “On, then, in” on the CATUNE indie label.
Currently the band consists of founding members, キモトタカヒロ(Kimoto Takahiro) on guitar and カネダマサシ (Masashi Kaneda) on bass guitar. モリケンシロウ (Kenshiro Mori) and フクヤマダイスケ (Daisuke Fukuyama) both joined the band in January 2007 and play second guitar and drums respectively completing the current four member line-up. Past drummers were Satoshi Shimomura, from April 2003 to December 2004, and Taisuke Okura, from December 2004 to January 2007.

This weeks music i can't get out of my head comes from Soeza. Soeza are a 7 piece rock band from the south of England. Two drums, French Horn and others bits. Quote ‘Soeza: an experimental rock band comprising two drummers, one bass, one guitar, lots of singing and a much neglected instrument in rock music, the French horn. Their music is frenetic but danceable and angular yet soulful, combining Ben Owen’s emotionally charged lyrical outpourings with Jenny Robinson’s beautifully soft vocals. These two contrast and complement each other over a big, boisterous rhythm section, effervescent guitar and melodic horn.

The new song by Cansei de Ser Sexy has been made available on their website today.
Rat Is Dead (Rage) is the first single from Donkey, the second album from Brazilian band Cansei De Ser Sexy. It will be released on July, 2008.
The song has a kinda harder feel to it then most on the last record but the dance ability is still there strong, so is a catchy chorus

Being a big Bright Eyes fan, an eyebrow was raised at seeing Conor Oberst on the Electric Picnic bill. Bright Eyes is essentially 'The Conor Oberst Show', so a solo spot seemed odd. I was expecting a one-man-and-a-guitar kinda thing, but that is apparently not the case.

Oberst has in fact recorded a solo album, backed up in a Bright Eyes fashion by a group of his mates (including M. Ward & Rilo Kiley's Jason Boesel) who are being called the 'Mystic Valley Band'. It's this setup that Picnic goers will be seeing.

The album, which I can only assume that it's to be titled Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band, was recorded in Mexico, and produced by Oberst with help from Now It's Overhead's Andy LeMaster. It's due to released on August 4th.

This weeks music I can't get out of my head is from Cloud Cult, Cloud Cult is an indie-rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota. The band’s founder and singer Craig Minowa has a degree in Environmental Science and his environmental, politcal and social awareness is reflected in much of Cloud Cult’s music. The band’s self-created not-for-profit record label, Earthology Records, uses the most truly eco methods out there to ensure minimum damage to the environment.
The song in question is off Feel Good Ghosts (Tea-Partying Through Tornadoes) and was hard to pick just one song off the album , the album is jamazing , but all silly made up words aside it truly is a great record and is one i think people should go out and get.

They really are a great band and i would totally recommend this album to everyone if you like this i would also recommend Advice From The Happy Hippopotamus which involved collaboration from a variety of musicians and has been widely acclaimed as a work of “insane genius”.

Subtle have leaked another track off their soon to be released album ExitingARM. The track in question is called "the crow" and can be found at the bottom of this post. A while back i posted the first track they relased from their new opus called "Unlikely Rock Shock" which you can listen to here , "Unlikely Rock Shock" follows the "Crow" on the album, so listen in order and get a sense of at least one transition.
. Also, i hear there's a 20,000-word comic book that doseone illustrated/wrote that follows the album's narrative. Keep watch at the band's site.
