Tonight MONOTONIX will destory Crawdaddy, Monotonix are a 3-piece of vocals, guitar and drums hailing from Tel-Aviv, Israel.
Monotonix have performed across the world and their performances are very energetic, verging on performance art. From lighting drums on fire, to hanging from ceiling fixtures, often heavily crowd-involved, no performance in the same city is like the last.

The Faint have been forced to cancel their Dublin show. The band were due to play Crawdaddy on November 17th, but due to their tight touring schedule will not be able to make the trip. Joel Peterson explains: "It just became obvious that our gear would not be able to get there in time for us to play. Hopefully we will be able to Ireland next time around."

Tragic! We'll just have to make do with playing Fasciinatiion loudly at parties.

For anyone thus inclined, you could ryanair it over to the UK or Europe for one of their other dates on this side of the Atlantic:

As regular readers will no doubt be aware I am quite the fan of Omaha electro-rockers The Faint (understatement? Possibly...). Hence my excitement at today's announcement that their UK tour in November has become a UK & Ireland tour. According to the band's myspace page they'll hit Ireland for a show in Crawdaddy on Monday November 17th.

The Melvins return to Dublin with their buddies Big Business & Porn on Saturday October 4! Their amazing new record “Nude with Boots” is out now on ipecac.
Math Rock pioneers Don Caballero make their debut Irish appearance in Crawdaddy on Friday November 14. Their new album “Punkgasm” is out now on Relapse Records.
And venue still to be announced but These Arms Are Snakes & Russian Circles play Dublin on wed November 19th (fuck yeah i was thinking about heading over to Engerland to try catch one of their shows over there)

Russian Circles is a three piece instrumental post-metal/post-rock band from Chicago. Similar to fellow Chicago residents Pelican, Russian Circles play epic, sprawling music which runs the gamut of heavy discordant metal to soft delicate passages. They are also known for their energetic live shows.Formed in late 2004 by guitarist Mike Sullivan and bassist Colin DeKuiper (both formerly of another instrumental band Dakota/Dakota), they quickly recruited Dave Turncrantz, formerly of St. Louis band Riddle of Steel. In 2007 DeKuiper departed the band and Brian Cook (These Arms Are Snakes and Botch) took on the role of bass player for the writing and recording of their newest album, entitled ‘Station,’ recorded in Seattle with Producer Matt Bayles.

Jeffery Lewis - The Last Time I Did Acid I Went Insane


Jeffrey Lewis was raised in New York City and is a maker of comic books, tragi-comic folk narratives, and lysergic garage rock. With brother Jack on bass and David Beauchamp on drums, the Jeffrey Lewis Band mixes 60s acoustic psychedelia like Pearls Before Swine with the experimental art-punk of the Fall and the urban lyricism of Lou Reed, sounding a bit like if Woody Guthrie fronted Sonic Youth. Live shows also incorporate "low budget videos", Jeff’s large illustrations displayed to accompany certain songs.



In 2001 Jeffrey Lewis signed to Rough Trade Records and has since released four albums.
The Jeffrey Lewis Band has toured the US, UK and Europe, sharing bills with Devendra Banhart, Black Dice, Thurston Moore, the Fall, Beth Orton, Frank Black, the Fiery Furnaces, Daniel Johnston, Scout Niblett, the Mountain Goats, the Moldy Peaches, Cornershop, the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players, Wooden Wand, the Cribs, the Danielson Famile and others.


The album Jeffrey Lewis: 12 Crass Songs was released in the UK and Europe in October 2007 on Rough Trade, with US release slated for January 2008. The album is a collection of songs by the legendary anarchist punk band Crass, reworked by Jeffrey into glorious folk, rock, psychedelic, orchestral and electronica productions which dazzle the ear while losing none of the political power of the originals. For the recording of 12 Crass Songs Lewis was joined by Helen Schreiner on back up vocals.


12 Crass Songs follows in the footsteps of the critically acclaimed Jeffrey & Jack Lewis: City & Eastern Songs, which was produced by Kramer (Galaxie 500, Butthole Surfers, Low, Daniel Johnston, etc) and was selected as one of 2006's best albums in Time Out NY, the Boston Globe, CMJ Monthly and elsewhere. Jeffrey's most recent comic book series Fuff is currently up to issue six.

For all of you who have never heard of this wonderful little group then now is the perfect time to find out as they play Crawdaddy on the 28th of May roughly three years to the day since the first time I saw them in the very same venue.

Coming on like a mixture between My Bloody Valentine, Air, The Beach Boys and early Cardigans they're a lovely way to spend a couple of hours.

The Minutes are a three piece from Dublin who have gigged all over the shop in various incarnations until forming their current band a year or so ago. They've just been signed to Universals digital platform with whom they are releasing their debut single “Harmonic” which is, as the old saying goes, catchy as fuck.

The Mae Shi are an experimental punk band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 2002 why am i talking about them well i just read that they are playing Crawdaddy on the 26 May as part of the Soundtrack Festival.
The Soundtrack Festival is being hosted by The Pod complex bring bands to Crawdaddy and Tripod over 9 nights from May 25th to June 2nd. Others on the Festivals bill are Public Enemy with support from The Bomb Squad and Cadence Weapon, Spiritualized with support from London instrumentalists Sian Alice Group, Tapes 'n Tapes in a double headliner with Glasgow foursome Sons And Daughters and more.

The band also includes Christian Ervin (computer), Michael Ferguson (guitar), Nicole Keenan (keyboard/French horn), Dan Ryan (bass), Robert Sahm (drums), May Tabol (guitar) and Jim Thomson (guitar). The group has drawn comparisons to Sufjan Stevens, The Arcade Fire, The Books and Animal Collective.

Man Man is known for their distinctive live shows where the members of the band dress in white tennis outfits and don war paint. During their sets the band does not take breaks between songs in order to keep a constant energy level

Went to Aesop rock Last night in Crawdaddy. Aesop was amazing and so was backing from Rob sonic both where very clear on the mic with every word crisp and clear. Both seem to be in high spirits and really enjoy the gig themselves. the only problem i had with the gig was the limp wristed hand waving that people think they need to do, happens a lot at hip hop gigs in Ireland that people think that they need to do this kinda stuff i just don't get it. And then there was a point in the gig when the crowd started an Olé Olé chant ,maybe im just a snob but i cringed at it.
Other then that awesome gig and after the gig Aesop and Rob where both outside signing autographs and posing for photos for over an hour. I though that was really cool of them. To sum up great gig.
