The last big festival of the summer is nearly upon us, and as usual the lineup features some of the must-see acts of the year. Already 2009 has seen some awesome albums from Bat For Lashes, Micachu & The Shapes, Florence & The Machine... and many other artists which grace the Electric Picnic bill.
I've always thought that the lineup for Electric Picnic is kinda like an bit of a crazy mixtape composed for you by the organisers of the festival. There may be a lot of stuff you haven't heard of, but you can be damned sure that the vast majority of it is gonna be stuff you'll like.
With that in mind, Egoeccentric have prepared a mixtape to act as your audio guide to the Picnic- giving you a taste of the acts which we consider to be unmissable. Old and new, main stage to small tents... and it's mixed together all purdy likes.

Daytime/Nighttime Mix
Every once in a while an occasion calls for the making of one of the old classic 'this is the kind of stuff I like to listen to' mixes. Today I had reason for making a mix of this nature, so figured I'd post it up here for the sake of utter randomness. Regular readers will no doubt be familiar with the majority of it's contents. Mixtapes making a comeback
While for a while we here have been flying the flag for the mixtape and then i saw this
what it is , is a usb key that you load songs onto and then give it to a person wraped in a box that looks like a cassette tape (old school and gadgety me like), but during the week someone brought the mixtape onto the web , web 2.0 that is.
what the hell am i talking about , well muxtape is what im rambling on about , basically you make a page and get your URL (username.muxtape.com), upload 12 tracks, sequence them how you like, and then send it off to your friends , to show them what great taste in music you have and how its much better then theirs.
so here is mine
and heres a friend of mines.
make your own and show us up .

Hangover Mix Vol.9: Delorentos
Delorentos like making mixtapes. So much so that their contribution to the egoeccentric hangover mixes is a two-parter- woo hoo!
Delorentos are currently on tour, having just played a massively well-recieved set at SXSW. They'll be hitting Italy for some dates at the start of April before returning to these shores to play FM 104's 'The Gig' on April 6th in the Olympia. Also on the bill for this show are The Blizzards, The Coronas, Aslan and Television Room- with all proceeds going to Temple Street Children's Hospital.
Check out Delorentos myspace here for updates, and links to their increasingly crazy tour diaries.
